By emphasizing both rigor and creativity, AoPS Academy math courses give students a strong mathematical foundation. We prepare our math students to excel in top math competitions, thrive at prestigious universities, and excel in future careers.
Instead of being presented with rules and facts, students learn to explore ideas and justify mathematical truths.
Students engage in discussions with their teachers and their peers as they problem solve together.
Students tackle challenging problems and synthesize known concepts to expand their adaptability and conceptual understanding.
Students pursue the “why” behind new concepts and learn a mathematical framework to justify their reasoning.
Students discover new concepts and test their ideas under the guidance of expert instructors. With an average of 13 students per class, students connect and collaborate with their dedicated peer group.
Students and parents can view detailed performance reports on their course homepage at any time throughout each course.
All students have assigned reading each week in support of the weekly lesson. Elementary math courses use Beast Academy curriculum; advanced math courses use Art of Problem Solving curriculum.
Students take in-class exams to help measure their learning. Our exams are challenging! Struggling on problems – even those which they never solve – helps students develop strong problem solving and critical reasoning skills. Along the way, students also learn that difficult problems don't have to be scary.
Students are assigned online weekly homework through their student portal. They receive instant feedback and access to detailed solutions for review after completion. Each assignment includes problems with a wide range of difficulty; students should expect to spend 1-1.5 hours on homework per week.
Our two-week camps are designed to keep students engaged and sharpen their skills for the upcoming school year.
Explore Summer CampsArt of Problem Solving textbooks have been used by outstanding students since 1993. The AoPS website launched in 2003, and its online community now has over one million users. Since 2015, all USA International Math Olympiad teammates have been AoPS students. Collectively, 2024 USA IMO team members took 33 AoPS Online classes.
The AoPS Online school has over 20,000 enrollments annually in courses specifically designed for high-performing math students. Most of the winners of major American national math competitions are AoPS alumni, and thousands of our alumni enroll in top universities each year.
